PDR Licensing and Regulations

PDR training is obviously an important step in learning paintless dent removal. Then there is the factor to start the business or company, business name, ABN, insurance, advertising, etc. An important consideration whilst doing all this is to consider your state’s and other state regulations.

Normally, all you would require to check is your local council and also state regulatory requirements if any exist. But PDR is virtually a mobile operation. You could be setting up for weeks to months at a time in a location in another state. A knowledge of that state’s requirements are therefore important.

New South Wales

Currently, the most regulated state in terms of requirements and regulations is New South Wales. On the 1st December 2014, legislation came into effect that all current licensed holders in paintless dent repairs had to renew their licenses under the new standards and from that point, new licenses were only to be issued to those holding a Certificate III in panel beating.

Western Australia

Western Australia also has licensing requirements for paintless dent removal and vehicle repair.

There may be licensing requirements to repair vehicles in the ACT.

All other states seem to not require any specific PDR and repair requirements.
