The excess is a nominated amount that applies with each separate claim lodged depending on the insurance policy structure. It usually is the responsibility of the repairer to collect the excess. Excesses are GST inclusive so this requires to be considered when completing your accounts. It also important to realise that insurance companies pay for the work on the vehicle less the excess. Typical exce
ss amounts vary from about $300 to up to $1000 per claim depending on the age group and company. Younger insured drivers often face higher excesses but again it depends on the breakdown as hail is a different type of risk.
Whether the excess is paid by cash, cheque, money order, or EFTPOS, some form of receipts require to be provided to the customer upon payment.
An example of a receipt format for an Excess is provided for your convenience. However, a simple receipt book is fine. This was provided by our software package.
