The Quotation Process – Private and Car Yards Quotations
When not dealing with insurance companies, it is recommended that pricing be reduced given that there are no strict compliance to warranty and quality requirements. Furthermore, the pricing is done on a per panel basis. This has an advantage of providing faster pricing estimates. Pricing for car yard vary slightly from general customers and are slightly lower again since it represents a good opportunity for repeat business and taking care of clients.
In general, pricing should follow the following:
For private repair work, the cost charge should be about $110 for the first panel, $70 for the second panel and $40 for other panels. Of course, much depends on the competition from other PDR technicians servicing the area. If the competition is fierce, it would probably be better to approach different regions. Used car sales yards will not pay as much as other car yards but their expectations of quality will not be that strict at all. It is often said, that new car sales yards have a cap of $500 per vehicle so keep this benchmark in mind.
Of course , these are general guidelines. Use your discretion. If you find two badly damaged panels, then you may charge a higher pricing given the extra time taken to repair these. Don’t sell yourself too short as this is your time and consistency does not provide opportunities for holes for customers to reduce your cost.
Work outside the hailstorms can add up to a sizeable amount. Estimates of earnings can be as high as $300 to $1000 per day.
